It orbits on average 9.5 astronomical units from the Sun, and its rings of ice and rock extend up to 282,000 kilometres from the planet, for a thickness of about ten metres in the main rings. In the photo, the planet and its rings fit within about 6% of the width of the image, in the middle of a black frame where no star appears; the rings, very thin in this image, stick out on either side of a pale disc. Like Jupiter, it is a bright and tiny target, a matter of focal length and a steady sky.
