NGC 7006
A globular cluster in Delphinus, number 42 in the Caldwell catalogue, discovered by William Herschel in 1784.
Le Cœur et l'Âme · Photograph by the author · 3h 47m of exposure, DwarfLab DWARF 3
It is about 134,000 light-years away and covers only 3.6 arcminutes, barely more than a tenth of the height of the field. In the photo, it is a small round patch at the centre, hardly wider than the bright stars in the frame. A 2023 study based on the Gaia satellite counts 50 variable member stars in it.
