NGC 7332 is a lenticular, about 40.7 million light-years away, and NGC 7339 a spiral, about 47.5 million. William Herschel discovered both of them on 19 September 1784, and they may form a true pair. The photo shows the difference well: a spindle with a bright centre for the lenticular, a thinner line of more even brightness for the spiral.
