NGC 6704
A small open cluster in Scutum, discovered by August Winnecke in 1854.
Le Cœur et l'Âme · Photograph by the author · 3h 47m of exposure, DwarfLab DWARF 3
It measures only 5 to 6 arcminutes, and two 2021 studies based on the Gaia satellite place it about 5,740 or 6,650 light-years away. In the photo, it is a small tight group at the centre, barely denser than the background: the telescope's field of view, far wider than the cluster, is covered in stars from edge to edge.
