NGC 1245
A rich open cluster in Perseus, which William Herschel discovered in 1786.
Le Cœur et l'Âme · Photograph by the author · 3h 47m of exposure, DwarfLab DWARF 3
It is about 9,380 light-years away, covers 10 arcminutes and counts more than a hundred stars; one estimate gives it 506 million years. In the photo, a crowd of faint stars of similar brightness closes in at the centre, and a brighter bluish star stands just below.
